What if the Tarrasque was sent to our world by the Shadow Monster to re-open the gateway, allowing it to invade Earth? Oh, BillyThere’s an unsettling shot of Billy with an infection spreading out of his arm that has some serious Upside Down vibes. There’s another shot of an energy beam firing into a wall, and it appears to be opening a portal back into the Upside Down. Maybe it can absorb and otherwise affect any nearby power source. What if the Tarrasque is a minion of the Mind Flayer that traveled to our world via that machine and can harness the power of electricity? After all, when it first appears in the scene with Jonathan, the lights go out, and when it gets agitated the lights flicker on again. The second sees a machine seemingly exploding with an electrical blast, one that fries the pour soul standing nearby.

The first sees Eleven on a beach looking up a sky full of red lightning - the kind associated with the big bad Lovecraftian creature that dwells in the Upside Down we know as the Mind Flayer or the Shadow Monster. However, the trailer features two distinct shots of electricity. Unlimited PowerSo what can this new creature from the Upside Down do? Aside from the ability to slowly rise up while sprouting all manner of disgusting sharp things and give a beastial roar, we’re not sure. Still, of the two, “Tarrasque” definitely sounds cooler, so we’re going with that. Another candidate is the Gibbering Mouther, which shares some qualities with the new monster, like its asymmetrical body, sharp fangs coming out of everywhere, and nasty coloring reminiscent of a very upset stomach turned inside out.
